Selectmen’s Meeting Minutes
April 24, 2006



7 PM Meeting Opened

Selectmen Present: R. Pride, J. Hite, and J. Northrop
Town Administrator: G. Scaife

Bills, minutes, and manifest approved for the week.

Public Input  - None.

Guy Scaife presented the Town Administrator weekly report:

·       Reviewed Pemi-Baker Waste Management Contract. BOS signed the Schedule A contract. (Town portion of the master contract between NCES and Pemi-Baker District).  
·       Reviewed the proposals to replace the pump at the Hydro Blvd. wastewater pumping station.  JN motioned that the lower bid from PSI Pump Systems be chosen to perform the work. JH second the motion.  All voted in favor. GS to notify vendor.
·       Payments have been received and the successful bidders have picked up the backhoe and loader.
·       The tanker truck that was given to the Fire Department was picked up over the weekend. It currently is being garaged in the Highway Department garage.
·       Insurance has been added for the tanker truck, the new police cruiser, and the backhoe. Insurance has been dropped on the two pieces of equipment sold.
·       In the process of interviewing candidates for the Office Administrator and Bookkeeper position. This is a back fill to replace Donna Clark, whose has decided to pursue a different opportunity.  Donna’s last day is tentatively set for 5/1/06, however, she has volunteered to assist on a limited base until a new person can be hired and trained.
·       Beginning in July the Local Government Center will be providing administration service for insurance for retirees and future COBRA applicants. This is a free service to the Town.
·       Kevin Clement recommended the BOS approve the lower priced paving proposal bid from BLACKTOP, Inc. (The bids were opened the previous week and clarification on a couple of questions were resolved during the week).  JH made a motion to accept the bid from BLACKTOP, Inc., RP 2nd the motion. All voted in favor.
·       Building Inspector continues to work with Four Seasons on outstanding issues regarding the new building.  

Regan Pride reported on the “Selectman Institute” Conference he attended on Saturday. Excellent conference covering numerous challenges and unique situations that Towns encounter.  This was part one of a four-part training program.

JN moved to adjourn and JH 2nd at 8:10 PM.  So voted all.
