Pay-As-You-Throw Price Increase
NOTICE - BAG PRICE INCREASE
Starting on April 1st, 2009, the pricing of official Lisbon-Lyman-Landaff Transfer Station trash bags will be increasing as follows:
SIZE Old Price New Price
Small bags $0.75/ea $1.00/ea
Large bags $1.50/ea $2.00/ea
We hope this pricing structure will be sufficient to defray the majority of costs for disposal of municipal solid waste (MSW) for the next few years.
Bags may be purchased at the following locations:
- The Lisbon-Lyman-Landaff Transfer Station
- Du-Ez In & Out Irving Station, Main Street
- P & D Quick Stop Sunoco Station, Main Street
- Lyman Town Hall
TRANSFER STATION UPDATES
You may have already noticed that all colors of glass may now be deposited in any of the three bins. Hopefully this will make things easier for all of us, and encourage recycling by more people.
Another streamlining measure: Recently, station operator Harvey Paquin modified the cardboard collection process. Large boxes should be put in the large window at the left end of the building, and small boxes - whether coated or not - should be put in the small window to the right.
At town meeting this year an article was passed authorizing the purchase of truck scales for use at the transfer station. We plan to install these in late spring or early summer. People bringing quantities of Construction & Demolition (C&D) waste will then be able to get an accurate weighing of the refuse, and pay for disposal by the pound rather than by volume. The scales will be located next to the paint-oil-hazardous waste shed with a looping driveway to the C&D containers.
